The Singalila Ridge Trek is one of the finest ridge walks in the Indian Himalaya affording amazing views of some big mountain ranges including Kanchenjunga, Everest, Lhotse and Makalu. The highlight is the Kanchenjunga and surrounding mountains which resembles a man sleeping and is famously referred to as “The Sleeping Buddha”. The forest is filled with the hot pink and red rhododendron flowers blooming in the valley along with white magnolia trees. 18 species of rhododendron recorded in Singalila National Park offer a feast to the landscape and if you’re lucky, you might just spot a Red Panda! We walked through blooming rhododendron forests, shared tea in quiet mountain homes, crossed borders India /Nepal without fences, and stood above the clouds at Sandakphu.
