Lobuche East is the perfect first Himalayan climb — a 6,119m peak rising dramatically above the Khumbu Glacier, with Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam filling the horizon. The journey begins with the iconic trek through the Khumbu — Sherpa villages, suspension bridges over glacial rivers, ancient monasteries, and the slow rhythm of altitude gain. The trail leads us to Everest Base Camp (5,364m), where climbers from around the world gather at the foot of the world’s highest mountain. This is the trek half of the expedition — the acclimatisation, the culture, and the standing-at-the-foot-of-Everest moment that most people travel to Nepal for.
From EBC, the expedition shifts gears into a true mountaineering objective. We move to Lobuche High Camp (~5,400m) for rope and crampon training, then begin the summit push before dawn. The route involves glacier travel, fixed ropes, and a steep snow and ice ridge to the top — crampons, harness and ice axe are essential. While classified as a trekking peak, Lobuche East is serious but achievable, and one of the most rewarding 6,000m summits in Nepal. Arrive in Kathmandu.
